Apollo Apollo is paired with a teenage boy named Zach, who has autism, to help him both socially as well as emotionally. Apollo helps Zach to relate with the people in his neighborhood, and also pays occasional visits to his school.
Blue Blue is a White Standard Poodle donated to North Star by Dom and Carol Passarelli of "Ollie's Angels". Blue will be paired with Sami, a young girl with epilepsy, as a seizure alert/support dog in June, 2004.
Charlie Charlie was paired with a girl named Olivia when she lost her remission to cancer. As a dog selected and trained specifically to help mitigate her challenge, Charlie has public access and is able to accompany Olivia anywhere she must go throughout this troubling time. He is a great comfort to Olivia, as well as to her sister Anna.
Lexi

A female Labrador Retriever named Lexi was acquired from Guiding Eyes for the Blind to work with a young boy named John, who is on the autism spectrum. He has been in training for the past 6 months and was recently placed with John to help him to learn to develop empathy and responsibility. Lexi also helps John to socialize and maintain his emotional equilibrium in times of stress.

Max Max is a lovely golden retriever who was purchased from a high quality breeder in Minneapolis named Kelli Johnson to work with a young boy in Maryland named Steven. Max will help Steven to deal with his autism and severe separation anxiety. He is currently in training under the supervision of
North Star's Director, Rachel Friedman, and will soon be flying out with Rachel to visit Steven.
Meika Meika was bred in North Star's in-house breeding program to work with a young girl named Jessie, who has learning disabilities. Meika has accompanied Jessie to her physical therapy sessions to help to motivate her through her often rigorous exercises that are meant to strengthen her low
muscle tone.
Piper
Piper was also bred in North Star's breeding program; she is now working with two young physically and mentally disabled girls named Emily and Kristin. She helps to calm them during moments of stress or transitions, and also help the girl's older brother, Ryan, to care for his sisters.
Rusty Rusty is Charlie's brother, and he is paired with a young boy named Christian, who is on the autism spectrum. Rusty helps Christian to focus and stay on task; he also interrupts his perseverative behavior by inviting him to play interactive games such as fetch or follow the leader.
Shiloh Shiloh is Piper's sister, and she is now working with a young boy named Caleb, who is on the autism spectrum. Shiloh will be attending school with Caleb in September to help assist with the social as well as emotional aspects of mainstreaming. A well behaved dog is a kid magnet, and helps to structure social interactions.
Tanner

Tanner is a 3 month old puppy in training for two young brothers on the autism spectrum who live in Vermont. He is being trained by a professional dog handler named Amy Gamache; his training plan will be created by North Star with the help of Nancy Lyon and Dee Ganley, two search and rescue experts who have already helped us to train a North Star dog named Nomar.
Rita
Rita is a North Star dog that is paired with a young boy named Mitchell, who has autism. Mitchell's twin sister Margo and younger brother Colin were very much included in this placement, as the three children are very close.
Ruby Ruby is an Australian Shepherd that was trained to assist a young girl named Francesca who has spinal bifida. Ruby helps to ease Francesca's anxiety by being available to her at all times. She is also trained to retrieve dropped objects and play interactive games with Francesca and her brothers.
